Our Committees 2009-2010
An adult member from each family is required to serve on a committee or as a
member of our Board of Directors. A
committee sign-up sheet will be available at the Orientation Meeting in August. It is
required that all committees complete their responsibilities throughout the
school year as needed so that an undue burden is not put on other parents to
complete those tasks.
Board of Directors (5)
These members are elected at the April general meeting. Their one-year
term is from June - May and they work together to organize all aspects of the
operation of the school. The five positions include: President,
Co-Membership/VP; Co-Membership, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Fundraising (2 per class)
Committee members explore fundraising possibilities and coordinate acceptable
projects needed for the school year. They are responsible for distributing/collecting order forms,
placing the completed orders with the fundraising company and organizing
distribution at CNS to the members.
Sewing (1)
This individual will complete a monthly inspection of dress-up clothes and make
repairs as necessary. This individual may be asked to work on special projects
as well.
Parent On Call (1)+
This person will be "on call" to arrive at school within 15 minutes in case
of emergencies ONLY to provide temporary additional assistance as needed. This
committee is NOT a substitute Parent of the Day.
Refreshment Coordinator (1)
This person organizes the set-up, food, drink, paper products, and
clean-up of the open house and the end of year picnic.
Laundry (2)
Committee member will clean paint smocks, towels, and tablecloths at least twice
a month. Also, committee member should check the dress-up clothes and wash when
needed.
Scholastic Book Order (1)+
This person will distribute book order forms, determine order and payment dates,
and sort and distribute book orders. This job will be assigned by the teachers.
Playground (3)+
This committee's monthly duties may include pulling weeds (or spraying),
“fluffing” mulch by raking, sanding rough spots on the wooden equipment, and
inspecting the condition and safety of all equipment. A maintenance day
may be scheduled to reseal the wooden equipment and spread fresh mulch in the
fall or spring as needed.
Arts and Crafts (3)+ For
parents of the 4s class
This committee will assist teachers in preparing arts/crafts materials for
school projects. This will involve taking patterns and construction paper
home to trace/cut/organize and return to teachers prior to class when project is
to be completed by students. Additional volunteers may be needed during holiday
seasons. Committee members from both the 3 and 4 year old classes are needed.
Playdough (3+)
This committee will be responsible for making a different color playdough each
month. Playdough is brought to school in a ziplock bag at the beginning of each
month. A color schedule and recipe will be provided by our teachers.
Note: A (+) after the committee number indicates that if all committee
positions are filled designated by the number in parentheses, then additional
members may sign up on that particular committee.
